Philosophy

Derived from the Greek ‘Philo’ (love) and ‘Sophia’ (wisdom), philosophy is literally defined as “the love of wisdom.” More broadly understood, it is the study of the most basic yet most profound matters of human existence. 

Our highest intention is to help others fulfill their dreams and goals. We love to direct and channel our skill sets towards enriching the lives of others while playing and experimenting with the creative power within all of us. Sharing is caring. We believe collaboration is the key to creating a happier, more fulfilling process that fosters trust on all sides.

S U S T A I N A B I L I T Y

In 2021, Costa Rica committed to becoming carbon-neutral by 2030. Transcending traditional design patterns and procedures is now imperative.  As the rules of architectural design rapidly change, particularly in Costa Rica, MODUS OPERANDI is more committed than ever to integrating the permacultural, economic, ecological, and human components into our designs.

C R E A T I V I T Y

Without creativity, nothing would be possible. We attain this frequency by creating harmony and connection between the client and professionals in charge. Respect for each other’s ideas is the trigger that allows creativity to unfold.

NATURE

“Natura naturans” is a Latin term coined during the Middle Ages, meaning “nature naturing” or, more loosely, “nature doing what nature does”.  It has been the constant creative force guiding evolution since time began. It need not hurry because it knows all will be accomplished. In Nosara, ‘nature’ is not a place to be “gotten back to” or visited on weekend camping trips. It is life itself, present at every twist and turn, firmly, lovingly, reminding us of a truth long buried against the backdrop of modern culture: That we are it, and it is us.

L O V E

LOVE is the essence of our practice. If you don’t do it with LOVE, just don’t do it. Love is expressed by accepting and embracing any variables that might appear during the creative process.
